I will be focusing on clients this summer and returning to public speaking in the fall, after I return from visiting family in Ireland. Here is what’s lined up so far:
Tuesday October 7th– Sugar Blues, the Belfast Library, co-sponsored by the Belfast Co-op. The presentation focuses on sugar in our modern diet, what forms it takes and how long it has been there. Does that fudge recipe from your great-grandmother make fudge an ancestral food? The discussion examines how sugar affects you, your energy and your moods. Looks across cultures and back into history to put our sugar habits into historical context. This workshop encourages lively discussion and questions from participants.
Thursday October 16th– The World Food Workshop, the Rockland Library
This is a nutrition workshop that illuminates our current food trends by placing them in international context. Take a peek inside the kitchens of families in ten foreign countries with a powerpoint slideshow to see what they eat and what it looks like. These families and their countries are in various stages of “modernization.”
Saturday, October 18th– On Saturday October 18th, at 9:30 AM, the Good Tern Coop will be
kicking off their Fall series of classes with a panel discussion. They will be hosting Nutrition Counselor Holly Noonan and Community Health Educator Valerie Garrigan R.N. speaking on the benefits of avoiding gluten in your diet. Many common ailments, as well as more serious disease, respond well when gluten is cut out, but the task of making such a huge dietary change is daunting. Come get inspired with recipe and meal ideas. Share what you have discovered or learn how to begin. Valerie Garrigan has been eating gluten free for five years and teaches nutrition for diabetes. After her popular Sugar Blues talk last winter, the coop is happy to welcome Holly Noonan back to share her wealth of knowledge. For more information, call Adam at 691-9327. By donation.
Monday, October 27th- 9:30am. A food store tour at Fresh Off The Farm In Rockport. Come with questions, bring a friend. FOTF is now generously offering a 10% discount to orders of $50 or more to my food store tour attendees. RSVP here to attend.
Monday, October 27th- 7pm-9pm–North Haven Adult Ed, The World Food Workshop.

Wednesday, November 5th– “Eating for Success” at the Maine Women’s Network. Location TBA. Join me for this presentation about how to use food as a strategy for mental clarity, increased productivity and improved workplace culture. We’ll discuss “quick” versus “even” energy foods, sugar addiction, least-worst restaurant choices for lunch meetings, shifting office “candy dish” culture, and longer term eating according to one’s metabolic type. A person can’t achieve their full potential– personally or professionally– unless they are eating well. Discovering what that means for you is a slow process of awareness– not willpower– and it can mean the difference between living a good life and living a great life.
If you would like to book a date to have me do a workshop for your group, contact me. I love to do them.
