My Story: I was stuck in an eddy of unhealthy habits for decades. Junk food, major fluctuation in my weight, voracious emotional sugar binges, nail biting, exercising only in spurts and horrible, corrosive bouts of low-self-esteem. I was tormented and it was a private, inward sort of suffering that I could hide pretty well, but I couldn’t escape. BOY! Did I ever want to escape it! And I did, sometimes, with alcohol, obsessive TV watching and of course, bingeing on food. I even kept traveling to try to move away from myself in a way, to get a fresh start each time.
(Boy am I glad THAT’s over!)
In my early 30s, the Universe slapped down another card I had to play: chronic illness. Suddenly my bad habits and self-punishments resulted in physical pain, illness and an inability to “do” my life! I had a lot of time in bed to think about it.
I finally learned how to climb steadily towards the light.
